Adventurer's Guide Destination: Habsburg Stone!
Adventurer's Guide Destination: Habsburg Stone!
The Habsburg Stone is a beautiful viewpoint located on the south face of Cerro Otto, after a short walk of only four kilometers, covered in approximately one hour on foot. To get to this viewpoint we can take three different routes, one is to go up to the revolving confectionery on the hill by car and begin the walk from the parking lot, crossing the path we will find two other small viewpoints to make stops to eat and drink the snacks we brought with us, recharge our batteries and continue towards our destination. Another option is to start our walk from the city of Bariloche, making what would be the typical ascent to Cerro Otto from kilometer one of Av. Pioneros and beginning with the path to the Habsburg Stone once we reach the renowned confectionery. The path we'll take after reaching the summit is the same one we would have taken if we had gone up in our vehicle. Our last option is to take the iconic Cerro Otto cable car. Charming "manzanitas" (little apple trees) will take us from kilometer 5 of Pioneros Avenue, flying over the city, the forest, and the mountain until we reach the interior of the cafeteria that awaits us at the summit to have a coffee and admire, in its own art gallery, exact replicas of some of Michelangelo's sculptures, such as David, Pietà, and Moses. After our stop at the cafeteria, we can take the path that will take us to where we have been anticipating so much, the Habsburg Stone. After a pleasant walk among the Andean-Patagonian flora, we will arrive at the viewpoint and if the walk didn't leave us breathless, the views from this point certainly will! From here, we'll have a panoramic view of Lake Gutiérrez and Cerro Catedral like no other. We'll be able to take a photo to prove we made our hike, and a few more to remember the scenery forever. Once we've finished our well-deserved rest, we'll head back along the same trail we came in, always remembering to return our waste in a bag so we can all continue enjoying these unique experiences.

We're already mid-autumn, and the summer landscape has left to give way to new and beautiful seasonal views with colors ranging from the typical green of the Arrayanes to the intense red of the Lengas. We look forward to welcoming you to come and enjoy the endless adventures our city has to offer. Hike up to a cozy mountain refuge like the Frey Refuge on Cerro Catedral or the Berghof Refuge on Cerro Otto, which used to be the home of the historic Otto Meiling, promoter of skiing and creator of the first ski school in South America. Berghof Refuge - Photo published on their Facebook page Frey Refuge - Photo from the El Cordillerano newspaper page If you're up for an adrenaline-filled experience, fly between the trees on an exciting canopy tour that will give you a new perspective of the landscapes that you couldn't appreciate from the ground. Or cross from the top of the mountains to the beaches of the lake by bike, enjoying the air on your face and all the Bariloche environments that await you, take the opportunity to bring a thermos of some hot drink to make a picnic stop in the middle of nature, and do not forget to bring a bag for your waste so we can all continue enjoying Patagonia. If you are one of the most extreme adventurers, jump from a mountain in a paraglider and fly over the Andean forests, rivers, lagoons and streams. Views like those you will see from the sky are few! And of course, after your experiences we will be waiting for you at our hotel so you can have a well-deserved rest that will recharge your energies so that the next day you can start again with all the batteries and continue enjoying our beautiful city Bariloche.
